Activate your license
This article explains how to unlock a paid edition of Farino PDF on your computer. You can sign in with your account, try Business free for 30 days, or activate a computer without internet using an offline license file.
Editions
Farino PDF has four editions. Each higher edition includes everything in the editions below it.

Pro, Business and Enterprise are perpetual licenses with one year of maintenance. Each license covers one active device unless your order says otherwise. See pricing for current prices and the full comparison.
Sign in and activate
You need a farinopdf.com account with a license. Buy a license in the customer portal, or redeem a key you bought from a reseller.
- Click the account button in the title bar to open Your account.
- Click Sign in. A secure sign-in window opens farinopdf.com.
- Enter your email address and password, then approve the request.
- Farino PDF loads your licenses. If you have exactly one active license, it activates this computer automatically.
If you have more than one license, finish in the License Key dialog:
- Click Help › License Key, or click the edition button in the title bar.
- Choose the license in Account license.
- Click Activate this device.
The badge at the top of the dialog changes to ACTIVATED with the edition name. The dialog also shows who the license belongs to, the maintenance end date and how many devices are in use.
Try Business free for 30 days
Every account can try all Business features on one computer for 30 days. No payment details are needed.
You can start the trial from three places:
- The Try Business free for 30 days button on the start screen.
- The same button in Your account.
- A locked tool page, which shows Try it free for 30 days next to Enter License Key.
- Click one of the trial buttons. The Start your free Business trial? dialog opens.
- Click Start trial. If you are not signed in yet, sign in first.
- Farino PDF activates the trial on this computer.
You can also start the trial from the customer portal. Click Start my free trial on the Overview page, then sign in from the app to activate it.
Trial rules
- One trial per account, per email address and per computer.
- Farino PDF checks the trial online at least once every 3 days. Connect to the internet regularly during the trial.
- The trial is timed by the server. Changing the Windows date does not extend it.
- Offline license files are not available for trials.
During and after the trial
A chip in the title bar shows the days left, for example Business trial · 6 days. It turns amber in the last 7 days. Click it to open License Key.
When Farino PDF opens with 7, 3 and 1 days left, it shows a reminder with an Order Business button. You also receive reminder emails.
When the trial ends, Farino PDF continues as Free. Your documents are not locked or watermarked, and they still open and print. To keep the Business features, order a license. If you buy Business during the trial, the app switches to the purchased license automatically. You do not need to reinstall.
Activate a computer without internet
Use an offline license file (.farlic) for a computer that cannot connect to farinopdf.com. The file is bound to one installation and uses one device slot of your license.
- On the offline computer, open Help › License Key and note the Installation ID (32 characters).
- On a computer with internet, sign in to the customer portal and open My licenses.
- Under Your Serial Key, click the download icon (Download offline activation file (.farlic)).
- Enter the Installation ID and a Computer name, then click Generate .farlic file.
- Copy the downloaded file to the offline computer, for example with a USB drive.
- On the offline computer, open License Key and click Import .farlic. Choose the file.
After the import, the dialog shows Offline license verified until and a date. The file is valid for 12 months. For a subscription license it ends with the subscription. Generate a new file before it expires, or after you renew maintenance.
To remove an offline license, click Remove offline license in License Key. Then release the installation in the customer portal to free its device slot.
Move a license to a new computer
A license can only be active on its number of devices. To move it:
- On the old computer, click Sign out in Your account or License Key. This releases its device slot.
- If the old computer is no longer available, sign in to the customer portal. Open My licenses › Activations list, click Release next to the old computer and confirm.
- On the new computer, sign in and activate as described above.
