Install Farino PDF
This article helps you install Farino PDF on a Windows computer and open it for the first time. The Free edition works without an account, so you can start right after installing.
System requirements
Farino PDF runs on these systems:
- Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit) or Windows 11 (64-bit).
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.
- An internet connection for activation and the periodic license check. A paid license keeps working offline for up to 7 days between checks.
Windows XP, 7, 8 and 8.1 are not supported.
The download page recommends 4 GB of RAM for everyday documents and 8 GB for large PDFs and OCR. Allow about 2 GB of free disk space for the installation, plus space for your documents and cache. Actual needs depend on the size and content of your documents.
Download the installer
- Open the download page on farinopdf.com.
- Click Download version followed by the version number.
- Save the file. Its name has the form
FarinoPDF-<version>-setup.exe.
You do not need to choose between 32-bit and 64-bit. The same installer detects your Windows and installs the right version.
Verify the download
The Verify your download card on the download page shows the file size and the SHA-256 checksum of the current installer. To compare it, open PowerShell in the folder that contains the file and run:
Get-FileHash .\FarinoPDF-1.62.6-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256
The value must match the checksum on the download page exactly. If it does not match, delete the file and download it again.
Run the installer
- Save your open documents.
- Double-click the downloaded file. Setup needs administrator rights, so Windows asks for permission. Click Yes.
- Follow the wizard. By default Farino PDF installs to
Program Files\Farino PDF. - If you want a desktop icon, select Create a desktop shortcut. It is not selected by default.
- On the last page, keep Launch Farino PDF selected and click Finish.
Setup also adds Farino PDF to the Start menu and registers it as an app that can open PDF files.
Microsoft WebView2 Runtime
Farino PDF displays its interface with Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. The Microsoft Edge browser alone does not replace this runtime.
- If WebView2 is missing, setup installs it for you before installing Farino PDF. This step downloads the runtime from Microsoft, so you need an internet connection.
- If the WebView2 step fails or you cancel it, setup shows the reason. Check your connection and try again.
- On a computer without internet, first install the Microsoft Evergreen Standalone WebView2 Runtime for your Windows architecture (x86 or x64). Then run the Farino PDF installer.
First launch
When Farino PDF opens, you see the start screen. From here you can:
- Click Open PDF or drag PDF files onto the window.
- Choose one of the Popular tools, such as Organize Pages or Merge PDF.
- Use a Quick action, such as New PDF or Compress PDF.
- Reopen a document from Recent files.
In the Free edition, the start screen also shows a short note with a Sign in & activate link and a Try Business free for 30 days button. Tools that need a higher edition carry a small label such as PRO or BUS.
Update Farino PDF
You can update in two ways:
- From the app: click Help › Check for Updates. If a newer version is covered by your license, a dialog offers Download & install. Farino PDF downloads the installer, checks it, and then starts setup.
- Manually: download the new installer from the download page and run it over the installed version.
You do not need to uninstall first. Your account, license and settings stay in place.
Uninstall
- Save your work and close Farino PDF.
- Open Windows Settings › Apps (on Windows 10, Settings › Apps › Apps & features).
- Select Farino PDF and click Uninstall.
If you are moving a paid license to another computer, release this computer first. Sign out in the app, or release the device in the customer portal. See Activate your license.
